The S Type combines a substantial counterweight positioned close to the pivot with a four-material damping system for stable tracing and a weighty, low-resonance presentation. Four large bearings support the pivot, including a precision thrust bearing on the lower vertical axis.

The stainless-steel structure uses surface-contact joints, dense polyester/carbon/resin arm-pipe damping, a removable inside-force canceller, copper internal wiring and a plug-in stainless-steel headshell. The supplied headshell weighs 12 g including leads and screws.
